The aims of this History section are:
To summarize the events leading up to and including the discovery of Trichinella spiralis - Owen’s and Paget’s Story
To demonstrate how T. spiralis has played a role in world history – Andre’s Story
To document events leading up to the implementation of laws aimed at preventing the spread of trichinellosis among people – Virchow’s Story
The stories are told in a “tongue-in-cheek” style so as not to completely bore the reader with mountains of data at the expense of light-hearted entertainment without sacrificing the accuracy of the events discussed.
